Afghans were pushed back and forth in the jungles of Europe 5
Local activists said this group of Afghans were suffering from food shortages, some were seriously ill, but were prevented from entering the territory by Polish security, while Belarusian border guards did not let them return.
A group of Afghans are stuck in the border forest in the context of tensions between Belarus and the West that show no signs of cooling down, when the European Union (EU) supports the opposition in Belarus.
More than 4,000 people, mainly from Iraq and Afghanistan, crossed the border from Belarus to Lithuania, 50 times more than in 2020. Poland recorded more than 3,000 people illegally crossing the border from Belarus since the beginning of August.
The Polish and Lithuanian governments said they could not accept this influx of refugees, and rushed to deploy security staff and erect new fences at the border.
After being stopped by the Polish side, the group returned to the Belarusian border, but were pushed back by Belarusian security officers wearing riot gear.

Fundacja Ocalenie, a Polish charity, and an opposition lawmaker last week delivered tents, food and clothing to 32 Afghans.
Marianna Warteska, spokeswoman for Fundacja Ocalenie, said the group of Afghans mentioned above were in poor conditions.
Warteska said the 32 Afghans had to get water from a nearby stream and lived on bread delivered once a day by Belarusian border guards.
Eight of these Afghans had kidney problems and another five had diarrhea.
Polish border guard spokesman on August 31 refused to comment on the group of Afghans stranded at the border.
Warteska said all 32 Afghans expressed their desire to be protected by the international community in Poland and have legal representation at the Fundacja Ocalenie organization.
`Leaving them stranded is a political issue, which is really cruel and basically serves no purpose,` Warteska said.

The Polish government on August 31 said it was waiting for President Andrzej Duda to approve the proposal to impose a state of emergency on a section of the border for 30 days to deal with migrants.
The proposal to impose a state of emergency on the Polish border would affect 183 border towns.
Lithuania has declared a state of emergency over the border situation and proposed that the EU impose new sanctions against Belarus.
