Lawyer Khanh Huynh is living in the US and shares articles about career guidance and career choice:
I am not surprised that from the time I took the university entrance exam until now, there is almost no career guidance for Vietnamese students.
So how does the West provide career guidance to students?
The word `suitable` is the most important, because in any profession, there will be many people who like it but only a very few can do it, such as singers, actors, football players, models.
For common professions that do not require too high a natural talent, compatibility should be considered in two aspects: physical compatibility and mental compatibility.
Spiritual `compatibility` is more important and is something that Vietnamese students rarely consider when choosing a career.

People with writing ability should become reporters, lawyers, and Literature teachers.
Today’s `hot` professions such as economics, doctors, pharmacists, English, information technology… all require that `compatibility`.
Doctors must have a high memory, be sharp in grasping information, be good at speaking and skillful.
Once we have considered the word suitable, the number of suitable occupations has decreased significantly, and now it is time to consider the word like.
So students should find people who work in occupations that suit them and come ask to talk.
When there are only a few suitable occupations left on hand, this is also the time to consider your learning ability to see if you can take the exam for a school that is suitable for your occupation and try to practice for that school.
That is the basic process of career guidance that I went through in America.

It is the `Myers Brigg` test to bring out the four aspects of human personality.
From there, people will be divided into 16 personality types, with each type suggesting a number of different careers.
With that test, I learned that I am an extrovert – hunch – thinking – judgment type and a suitable career related to speaking, writing, and reasoning.
By the time I entered law school and talked to my friends, it turned out that everyone knew my `Myers Brigg` type, meaning everyone did things that I thought were `cool, skinny`.
Choosing a career and choosing a spouse are the two most important choices in a person’s life.
After all, we have cranky doctors, bad business negotiators, engineers who don’t like machines, stuttering teachers, bad cooks, even barbers.
These people actually have talent, it’s just that their talent is not used in the right place.
MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) personality test is a method that uses a series of multiple choice questions to analyze human personality.
Currently, MBTI is commonly used as a fairly accurate personality classification method.
