Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT University, said that the school does not set a requirement to only buy vaccines from a certain country or region because it will cause delays in gathering enough quantity.
FPT University leaders further shared that even before a student of the school tested positive for nCoV, `patient 1815`, at the end of January, FPT University was interested in ordering vaccines.
As the first school to announce a vaccine purchase plan, FPT University expects the cost for 100,000 doses to be about 3-4 million USD (80-100 billion VND), equivalent to the school’s tuition support for students in 2020.
FPT University’s vaccine purchase plan has not been scheduled for completion because it still depends on legal and commercial procedures.
`I think from June onwards, buying vaccines will be easier because countries have started to vaccinate their citizens, leaving the surplus for export. Hopefully this plan will be completed by the end of this year,` Mr. Tung said.
FPT University in Hoa Lac, Thach That district, is located far from residential areas.
Previously, on January 31, the Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Health and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam to present a plan to buy vaccines in the first quarter, using the national budget and other sources.
On February 17, Mr. Le Viet Dung, Deputy Director of Drug Administration (Ministry of Health) signed a document allowing AstraZeneca Vietnam Company to import 204,000 doses of vaccine to serve urgent needs against Covid-19.
At the end of January, FPT University Hoa Lac campus, Thach That district, Hanoi, temporarily blocked the entire campus at Hoa Lac high-tech park because a student had Covid-19.
One day after the blockade, authorities identified 47 students and 5 lecturers as F1, 60 F2 and 492 F3.
