`In the past 24 hours, looking at the overall picture of Covid-19 globally, especially in countries in the region, we are very worried about the risk of the epidemic spreading to Vietnam,` Mr. Long said on the morning of the 25th.
In India, in the past 24 hours, 340,000 new infections were detected.
Another thing to worry about when the epidemic invades is the double variants of nCoV in India or the British variant in Cambodia.
`The current infection situation in the world shows that every next epidemic is often bigger, stronger and more devastating than the previous one,` Mr. Long assessed.
In recent times, the National Anti-Epidemic Steering Committee and the Ministry of Health have continuously warned that a fourth epidemic could appear in Vietnam.
`The health sector has prepared scenarios in case the epidemic spreads and the situation occurs locally, especially in the Southwest region,` the Minister said.
The Southwest is a key area because of the Covid-19 infection situation in Cambodia and the possibility of entering Vietnam.
In the first half of April, when surveying Kien Giang, especially Ha Tien, the Ministry of Health decided to establish a field hospital in this area to proactively respond when bad situations occur.
`We have prepared scenarios for the following situations: There is an infection in the community; There is an infection in the community that we do not know about; There is a strong infection in the community,` Mr. Long said.
Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long.
Minister Long emphasized that one of the successful lessons in the fight against the epidemic in our country is the proactive and positive participation of the people.
`People need to thoroughly implement the Ministry of Health’s 5K recommendations, in which two important factors that can be decisive in reducing the risk of infection are wearing masks and disinfecting hands,` Mr. Long called for.
The Ministry of Health is implementing Covid-19 vaccination.
`We also recommend that all localities strengthen monitoring and early detection of infected cases. Prepare scenarios such as the epidemic spreading in the community in a very short time to be ready to respond, without being embarrassed or affected.
