When I was studying in Canada, I worked at a restaurant.
A few years ago, my mother came to Vietnam to visit me.
I really like Vietnamese because it is a very unique language, with tones and accents.
As someone who knows Vietnamese, I realize that Vietnamese people are quite disadvantaged when learning English compared to people from other countries.
In addition, most English books in Vietnam are translated from foreign books, according to popular textbooks for students in countries that do not use `tonal` languages like Vietnamese.
English teaching methods in Vietnam currently take `grammar` and `vocabulary` as the base, while the foundation for effective English learning lies in `pronunciation`.
Of course, I do not deny the importance of learning grammar, but you should not pay too much attention to it, unless you want to become a writer specializing in writing in English.
Learning English in Vietnam only takes vocabulary and grammar as the foundation and does not focus on pronunciation.
When I was an English teacher for Vietnamese people, I always wanted to find the best way and I came up with the idea of learning and researching Vietnamese.
If I learn vocabulary before knowing how to pronounce it correctly, when I talk, I will continuously make mistakes and create a very `bad` habit that is difficult to correct.
I am sure that this learning method will also be useful for Vietnamese people when learning English.
The curriculum includes classes on correct pronunciation of all `phonetics` in English and tests.
Firstly, they have never learned English this way and always think in the same way – learn as much grammar as possible.
Second, pronunciation lessons become an obsession because most of them have difficulty pronouncing any sound over and over again in 2 months with the intensity of studying 3 sessions per week.
Third, some of you know English, but make many mistakes in pronunciation.
I myself also made the same mistake when I first started learning Vietnamese, so I understand very well.
As a result, in my English class very few students complete the course.
The method of studying pronunciation is completely applicable to everyone.
