Proposing social isolation for ‘high-risk local groups’

On the morning of April 14, a group of scientists and information technology experts chaired by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communications held a meeting to review research results, helping the National Steering Committee on Covid prevention

Based on data analysis, the expert group divided provinces and cities into 3 groups: high risk, at risk and low risk.

Experts have focused on reviewing localities that are forecast to be at high risk and need to continue to apply social isolation for a while longer.

At the meeting, measures that will be applied on a national scale (for all 3 groups) were also discussed to help the Steering Committee report to the Prime Minister on April 15, including: Wearing a mask is mandatory when going out.

For events serving political and socio-economic development purposes of the government, participants must be medically supervised according to separate regulations.

Experts emphasized discipline in detecting and strictly handling organizations and individuals violating regulations on Covid-19 prevention, for example, not wearing masks and gathering in large crowds;

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy asked localities to soon assign focal points (officers from the Department of Health) to update data and be ready to carry out tracing when cases appear in the area.

When data is updated, provinces and cities can divide the level of risk to increasingly smaller and smaller district scales to have more appropriate, flexible and effective epidemic control measures.

Previously, on the morning of April 13, at the Steering Committee meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam emphasized the need to be ready for a long-term epidemic situation;

At the Government’s standing meeting on the afternoon of April 13, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assigned the Steering Committee to complete a specific plan on social isolation and report to the Prime Minister for decision on April 15.

By the morning of April 14, the whole country recorded 265 people infected with nCoV, 167 people recovered and 98 people are being treated;

The expert group includes about 300 volunteers who are officials from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information and Communications, a number of research institutes, universities, businesses, and students at home and abroad.

The group is supported by the Ministry of Health and the Government Office with working conditions.
